HOW TO PROVOKE GOD'S COMPASSION

SCRIPTURE: “Then Jesus called his disciples unto him, and said, I have compassion on the multitude, because they continue with me now three days, and have nothing to eat: and I will not send them away fasting, lest they faint in the way.”  – Matthew 15:32

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: Your commitment to God and His Word unlocks His compassion in your direction.

Compassion refers to kindness and concern for others, which usually provokes an act of benevolence towards them. From our anchor scripture, we see that Jesus had compassion on the multitude because they had been with Him for three days, listening to His Words. That was how passionate people in ancient times were for the Word of God.

However, spending quality time with God has become a luxury nowadays. For instance, if a church service is running for more than three hours, people would usually begin to look at their watches probably out of impatience and/or tiredness. That was not the case with the people in our anchor scripture; they camped with Jesus for three days and so were able to attract His compassion towards them.

How then do you provoke compassion from God?

Commitment to God and His Word is what unlocks His compassion in your direction. God’s love is for everybody, but His compassion and benevolence are for those who have time for Him and His Word. That is to say, it is your love for Him and His Word that magnetizes His Hand and benevolence in your direction. (James 4:8). God does not have favourites but He has intimates.

Remember this: Commitment to God and His Word unlocks His compassion in your direction.

ASSIGNMENT(S):
1. Ask the Lord to draw you into a deeper relationship with Him.
2. Begin to spend quality time with God in Word study and fellowship.
