THE BLESSING OF THE MORNING

SCRIPTURE: And Jacob was left alone; and there wrestled a man with him until the breaking of the day... And Jacob asked him, and said, tell me, I pray thee, thy name. And he said, Wherefore is it that thou dost ask after my name? And he blessed him there. – Genesis 32:24-29

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: Daybreak is a strategic time for the release of the blessing.

It is discovered that the daybreak is a strategic time for the release of the blessing, both in scriptures and in real life. Most parents call their children early in the morning and speak strategic things into their lives. Genesis 31:55 says, “And early in the morning Laban rose up, and kissed his sons and his daughters, and blessed them...” So, early hours of the morning is a strategic time for the release of the blessing. The Blessing means empowerment for progress and success. Jacob received the blessing of the morning which empowered him to go forward (Genesis 32:24-28) and the products of that blessing were:

1. The termination of struggles: Everything Jacob got was by struggle; he struggled from the womb (Genesis 25:22). He struggled to get married. He struggled to collect his salary from Laban. He seemed to be succeeding, but there was nothing he got that was not by struggle.

2. A change of identity. His name was Jacob (con man); it was a limiting name. But after the early morning encounter he had with God, his identity (name) which was contrary to his destiny was changed to Israel.

As you seek God early, the blessing of the morning will be released to you, in Jesus’ Name.

Remember this: Daybreak is a strategic time for the release of the blessing.

ASSIGNMENT(S):
1. Cultivate the habit of seeking God early.
2. Desire a personal encounter with God each time you seek Him.

PRAYER: LORD, thank You for the privilege of having access to Your Presence. As I seek You early, let me encounter You for a change of life, LORD, in Jesus’ Name.
