THE PRACTICE OF LOVE

SCRIPTURE: ‘And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us.’ – Romans 5:5

Our God is the God of Love. When He loves, He only exhibits His nature.

If we are created in God’s image (Genesis 1:27), we need to love people like God.

The practice of love releases the character of love. According to our anchor scripture, the love of God has been shed abroad in our hearts. What are we expected to do with this love of God in our hearts? Practice it! Release it!

To practice love is to contribute to the joy of people around you. Commend people whenever you see them.

Another way of releasing this love is to intercede for people, especially people who hate you. In Job 42:10, the Bible says, ‘And the Lord turned the captivity of Job when he prayed for his friends...’ His friends were those who had resisted and accused him.

Nothing produces excellence like exercise. To excel, you must exercise. Practice makes perfect. When you determine, for example, to wake up in the morning and pray for someone, you are practicing love. To show love with a smile brings an instant harvest.

SEEING THE FUTURE AT THE PLACE OF PRAYER

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: If you know what to do, you will leave where you are.
 
Direction is one of the greatest assets of life. It guarantees acceleration and escape from destruction.
 
There are many people who are where they are today not because they want to be there but because they do not know what to do in order to leave where they are. But if you know what to do, you will leave where you are.
 
It has been confirmed that light and insight are the fuel for direction. And light and insight can be accessed at the place of prayer.
Now, we are going to look at one of the dimensions of light and insight that we can access at the place of prayer.
 
1. Vision for the future
From our anchor Scripture, we see that the Bible says, “I will stand upon my watch (which refers to the place of prayer)…and will watch to see… Write the vision…”
 
So, the place of prayer is a place where vision for the future can be received; it is where God’s purpose for a person can be discovered.
 
Remember this: if you know what to do, you will leave where you are.

THE NECESSITY OF REVIVAL

SCRIPTURE: And Jacob called the name of the place Peniel: for I have seen God face to face, and my life is preserved. – Genesis 32:30

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: Nothing arrests darkness like the deployment of light. 

Revival is a season of spiritual awakening, intensive spiritual activity and spiritual fire. It is the climate of heaven on earth. Revival also means back to Bethel. In Genesis 35:1, God told Jacob to arise and go up to Bethel and build an altar unto the LORD. The experience of revival is like someone who lost his passion for God but encountered Him afresh thereby igniting his first love for God.

Revival is necessary for the arrest of satanic lawlessness. As we know, Satan is absolutely lawless and he must be checked. The truth is, nothing arrests darkness like the deployment of light. So, it is revival that will answer the generational epidemic of satanic activities, occultism and terrorism. 

Also, revival gives a person a life time transformation. Jacob had an intense spiritual encounter with God and his life changed forever (Genesis 32:24). He was Jacob but by the time God was through with him, his name was changed forever; that encounter gave birth to a nation (Israel).

RESPONSIBILITY - A DOORWAY TO POSSIBILITIES

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: It is responsibility that unlocks possibility. 

Responsibility is existence with tireless pursuit of goal and vision. It has been confirmed that nothing can be glorious until someone is serious. It is responsibility that unlocks possibility. If you must stand out in life, if you must break forth on every side, you must be ready to take up certain responsibilities. 

Now, what are the products of taking responsibilities?

1. Responsibility is the doorway to possibilities. 

If you see anyone who is seeing many possibilities; it is not luck, it’s responsibility. Exploits do not belong to the weak; it is emotionally, mentally, spiritually and physically strong people that do exploits in life (Daniel 11:32). 

2. Responsibility is the doorway to authority. (Proverbs 22:29). 

It was former British Prime Minister, Wilson Churchill who said, “Responsibility is the price of greatness.” If greatness is your desire, then responsibility is the price to pay.

3. Responsibility unveils ability; it pushes out potential.

You do not know what you can do until you begin to do what you have not done before. You do not know your full potential until you stretch yourself. It is elasticity that confirms ability.

A lady went there to start up a business, and when it could not function, they told her, “There is a man by name Paul Enenche who cursed the place when he was a student here. THE FORCE OF PLANNING

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: The power of vision is in the specificity of timing.

Yesterday, we established that planning is necessary to bring any vision to pass. We identified some dynamics of planning as:

i) Identifying the vision or what must be achieved.

ii) Identifying what is necessary to get it done 

iii) Identifying the time frame needed to get it done.

When I was in courtship with my wife, one day my mother asked me when I would be ready to wed. I told her that I do not know yet because I was trusting God for finance. Then she said, “Give it a date. Anything that has no date has not right to come to pass”. When I gave it a date, it came to pass.

So, the power of vision is in the specificity of timing.

Today, we want to explore two more dynamics of planning:

a) Reduce the overall objectives to smaller units or goals to smaller time frames. 

b) Get started: Nothing is as useless as a plan without action. A plan not acted on is a worthless wastage of time, energy and resources.

Engage in strategic planning in order to fulfil your vision for living.

DYNAMICS OF PLANNING

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: You do not have eternity to fulfil destiny

It is an established fact that it is one thing to have a vision, but another thing for it to be fulfilled. One reason many visions are not fulfilled is that the force of planning is not applied.

Therefore, to fulfil vision, we must understand the dynamics of planning.

Now, what are the dynamics of planning?

1. Identify the vision or what must be achieved.

2. Identify what is necessary to get it done. 

3. Identify the time frame needed to get it done. 

You do not have eternity to fulfil destiny. If you say that one of these days, you will do something that has lingered in your mind; note that “one of these days” is none of these days.  And if you keep saying, someday you will do it; note that SOMEDAY is not a day of the week.

The seven days in a week are Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday but not SOMEDAY. So, if you say, you will do it someday, since SOMEDAY is not a day of the week, it will never get done.

Beloved, make up your mind to do it now.

Remember this: You do not have eternity to fulfil destiny.

Some time ago, I heard a story of a stupendously rich man who died and was about to be buried. While they were burying the remains, a mad man shouted, “Hold on! Don’t bury him alone. Put all his cars and houses in his grave and bury them with him”. Everyone was shocked at the mad man’s statement, but God used him to preach a message. 

The truth is: if that rich man had no relationship with God while he was on earth, he had wasted his life.

Beloved, everyone will die one day and face eternity, either with God in Heaven or with the devil in hellfire. 

Your life is a gift from God to be used to serve Him. To live on earth without God is to waste your existence. You will give account of your life to God one day. 

How then do you live in order to spend eternity with God?

1) Accept Jesus Christ as your LORD and Saviour

2) Abstain from every form of filthiness.

3). Develop a quality relationship with God.

MAINTAINING SPIRITUAL INTENSITY

Spiritual intensity is the degree of a person’s connectivity to Divinity. It is the weight or strength of one’s spirituality per time.  In other words, it is the level of fire, depth and power with which a Christian operates.
 
It is confirmed that the intensity of your spirituality determines the dignity of your destiny. Your depth in God determines your height in life.
 
What matters most in life is not what we start but what we finish. People who start good things are usually many but those who complete what they started are always few. People with good intentions are many but people with good conclusions are few.  Therefore, it is one thing for your spirituality to be strong and it is another thing for you to maintain the intensity of that spirituality.
 
To maintain the intensity of your spirituality; fasting and praying, word study, fellowship with the brethren etc., are non-negotiable.

GOD'S PERSPECTIVE OF KINGDOM SERVICE

Vision, the picture of the preferred future, is very important for the fulfilment of God’s purpose for one’s life. However, there are visions people have in life that ended as daydreams because the relevant forces for the fulfilment were not applied. It is one thing to have a vision; it is another thing entirely for the vision to be fulfilled. 
 
Now, there is one vital force that brings vision to fulfilment.
It is called the force of planning!
 
Why is the role of planning critical in fulfilling vision?
1) Vision reveals the prize to be won but planning unveils the price to be paid. 
2) Vision reveals the overall target but planning breaks it down into achievable bits or goals. Vision becomes realistic when it is broken down into bits. If you cannot meet your daily goal, it is daydream to meet your yearly goal.
3) Vision is objective-specific while planning is time-specific. Planning allocates time to what should be done.

We live in a transient world. Everyone on earth is gradually moving towards a timeless eternity. As people are being born into the world, people are also leaving this world in death to a permanent place called eternity; either Heaven or hell.
 
Many people are not conscious of eternity; they live under the control of their flesh. 
 
It is important to know that another name for the flesh that covers a man’s body is called dust. So, everyone carries a body that is dust. 
 
That means no matter how beautiful, fair or dark your completion; it is just a beautiful, fair or dark dust. No matter how handsome you are, you are a handsome dust.
 
Investment in the flesh (dust) which will decay one day in the earth is a waste of investment. (Ecclesiastes 12:7).

What is responsibility? 
 
It is the state of being answerable or accountable for something within one's power. It is the refusal to give excuses or shift blame on someone when a piece of work is left undone. Exploits in any realm of life does not belong to the weak but the responsible.
 
It is important to know that responsibility is a key factor in obtaining favour with God and also with men. Labour invites favour. 
 
For instance, when David took the responsibility of killing Goliath, he won the favour of God and that of men. The women began to sing his praise: “…Saul hath slain his thousands, and David his ten thousands” (1 Samuel 18:7).
 
That is favour with men which is a product of responsibility.
 
God will never favour the irresponsible. Even if God decides to favour them because of persistent prayer, that favour may not last because it also takes responsibility to maintain the favour of God.

There is a connection between the vision of a man and the enlargement he experiences in his life. Men of vision are men of enlargement.
 
There are two key facts I want you to know on vision and enlargement:
 
1. The size of a person’s vision determines the size of their life and destiny. 
Nobody can be bigger than the vision they possess.
 
2. Mentality determines reality. 
It is not possible to experience in reality what is not available in mentality. If it does not cross your mind, it cannot cross your life. The mind of a man is central to his destiny.
 
Now, how does vision bring about enlargement?
1. What occupies your heart determines what is attracted to your life.
2. The size of your vision determines both the size of your plan, action and result.
3. Vision is the fuel for speed in life.
4. What a man sees determines what God gives.
5. Vision is a department of faith.
6. Vision brings wisdom and wisdom brings enlargement.
 
Therefore, in order to experience enlargement in any area of your life, ask God to envision your life.

It is confirmed that the mind of a man operates like a magnet; he attracts his kind of person to himself. For instance, a mad man would attract other mad people around him. 
 
Furthermore, what a man thinks is attracted to him. At times, he may be thinking about someone and the person he is thinking about at that moment might call him on phone. This is because the content of a man’s heart is attracted to him.
 
Usually, a person’s life attracts three things: resources, opportunities and personalities that are in line with his vision. So, the vision in a man’s mind does not only attract provision but also people and opportunities.
 
When a man sees largeness in his mind, he sees largeness around him. It is not possible to see a mega outcome in life with a micro insight.
 
David had a vision to bring down Goliath. So, God showed him an opportunity of the uncovered forehead of Goliath. Saul was unable to bring down Goliath because that vision did not exist in his mind.
 
I decree the enlargement of your vision in Jesus’ Name.

1. The arrest of the activities of the enemy.
2. The softening of the ground for spiritual productivity. Revival atmosphere is the atmosphere of ease and softness.
3. The salvation of the lost.
 
What are the products of revival?
1. Personal revival brings about life and destiny cleansing.
2. Revival brings about destiny re-direction.
3. Revival brings about the dismantling of the grip of the enemy.
 
What are the keys to revival?
1. Passionate hunger and desire for God (Matthew 5:6).

THE DIMENSIONS OF GOD'S LOVE

Love is the nature of God. He delights in showing love. This was why He sent His only Begotten Son to die on the Cross for our sins. The love of God restored us to God after the fall of man in the Garden of Eden.
 
It is important to understand the dimensions of God’s love in order to embrace it.
 
Now, what are the dimensions of God’s love?
a) Delivering love.
Delivering love is God’s love that delivers people from destructions on earth and damnation in hellfire. Therefore, if you accept God’s love by surrendering your life to Christ, you are delivered from every form of destruction of the devil on earth and eternal torment in hell.
 
b) Direction-giving love
God’s love gives direction. Jesus, who is the product of God’s love, came to show us the way to the Father (John 14:6). You will not miss direction in life if you embrace the love of God.
 
My counsel is, embrace the love of God; accept Jesus into your life and develop a relationship with God. If you do this, you will experience the manifestation of God’s love in your life.

It is confirmed that God moves with responsible people; the power of God is revealed for people who are action and goal oriented. Responsibility unlocks possibilities.
 
What is responsibility? 
 
It is the state of being answerable or accountable for something within one's power. It is the refusal to give excuses or shift blame on someone when a piece of work is left undone. Exploits in any realm of life does not belong to the weak but the responsible.
 
It is important to know that responsibility is a key factor in obtaining favour with God and also with men. Labour invites favour. 
 
For instance, when David took the responsibility of killing Goliath, he won the favour of God and that of men. The women began to sing his praise: “…Saul hath slain his thousands, and David his ten thousands” (1 Samuel 18:7).
 
That is favour with men which is a product of responsibility.
 
God will never favour the irresponsible. Even if God decides to favour them because of persistent prayer, that favour may not last because it also takes responsibility to maintain the favour of God.

It is an established fact that life is a journey. Every journey requires adequate preparation. The preparation for a journey determines its success. 
 
Just as every journey requires adequate preparation in order to arrive at the right destination, the journey of life also requires adequate preparation in order to arrive at the purpose of God for one’s life. 
 
What are the requirements for a successful journey of destiny?
 
1. Vision
Vision is the mental picture of a preferred future. Vision gives you the ability to plan and the capacity to pursue your plan. Vision gives you the capacity to measure progress.
 
2. The Presence of God
If Jesus who is God and whose birth was announced by angels, needed God’s Presence to succeed, then, we equally need God’s Presence to fulfil destiny. 
 
Every man is helpless outside God’s Presence. To be independent of God is to be ineffective in life.
 
3. Joy and excitement
Excitement is the secret of accomplishment in life. Excitement is a companion of expectation and expectation brings manifestation (Psalms 105:43). 
 
Beloved, do not start any journey you are not excited about.

The subject of faith is critical to the Christian journey on earth. It is through faith that every genuine Christian lives in this world (Romans 1:17). So, anywhere faith is lacking, Christianity will end in ridicule.
 
Key fact on faith:
It is important to know that faith is not a feeling or a wish; faith is a fight. So, if you are not ready for a fight, you are not ready for faith. Every genuine faith must be confronted. For instance, the faith of Daniel was confronted with the lion’s den (Daniel 6:16).
 
Sometime ago, a lady was given a negative diagnosis in the hospital. When she saw it, she fought it out with a declaration, “No! This cannot be my result. I reject this diagnosis”. Another test was conducted and it was discovered that she did not have the sickness she was told she had; the first test was the result of another person mistakenly exchanged for hers.
 
You see, she engaged her faith in a fight and it delivered her.
 
I decree the impartation of audacious faith in your life in Jesus’ Name.

THE PRODUCTS OF LOVE

SCRIPTURE: ‘Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you…’ – James 4:8
 
THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: When a man or woman walks in love, they attract the Presence of God and become like God whose nature is Love.
 
In our study yesterday, we established the fact that our God is a God of love, and since He created us in His image, He expects us to manifest the nature of love.
 
What, then, are the products of love?
 
1. Love Releases the Nature of God in our Lives. 
 
When we walk in love, we look like God, but when we walk without love, we look like the devil. God is attracted to people who have His nature. Two people cannot walk together until they agree to do so (Amos 3:3).  When we agree with God and become more like Him in character and attitude, He is pulled in our direction. 
 
2. Love Releases the Presence of God. 
When a man or woman walks in love, they attract the Presence of God and become like God whose nature is Love. It does not matter who is present in your life, if God is not present, nothing is present.  The Presence of God in the life of a person is his or her greatest asset. The deeper you go in your relationship with God, the more transformed you become in the walk of love. Walking with God enhances the walk of love.
